Maths Workshop: Session 2

Lesson: Maths

Class: Reception Year: 2015-2016

This week the children and parents made a mathematical fruit salad.  They followed the recipie below and then had a turn at Miss McGovern's 'Estimation Station'.  One child and her mum were 'spot on' with their estimation, we were very impressed!

After that, we had tidied away the equipment and ate our delicious fruit salad whilst listening to the Wiggles song, 'Friut Salad', then Miss Hart read 'Oliver's Fruit Salad'.

           Mathematical Fruit Salad

  • Slice a banana into 10 pieces

  • Share 8 grapes with a friend – how many do you have?

  • Cut the grapes in half, how many pieces do you have now?

  • Cut a strawberry into 4.

  • Add 6 pieces of apples and or oranges to your bowl (adding 4 apples and 2 oranges, makes 6 – say the number sentence.

  • Tidy your area

Next week will be our last maths workshop.  We will be talking about Shape, Space and Measure and will have lots of activities for the children and adults to try.

We look forward to seeing all who can make it on Tuesday 22nd March 2015, 9:30 - 11am.
