Nursery 2020 - 2021
Welcome to Nursery
We hope that your child has settled into nursery with us.
As a nursery team, our main aim is to ensure that your child feels safe and secure with us, and then as a result of this will learn and develop all the necessary skills.
The topics taught in Nursery are child initiated and very flexible. They will be implemented and adapted to match the interests and abilities of the children.
Our EYFS team are happy to talk to you about your child’s need and interests.
For further information please contact us.
What will children do during a Nursery session?
Your child will take part in a wide range of activities, both indoors and outdoors. Your child will learn through activities he or she has chosen, or from those that are led by an adult. Children in the Foundation Stage learn through play based activities that are fun and enjoyable. These activities are supported by caring adults who will work closely with you to ensure your child makes progress. We keep careful progress records for each child which are linked to the Development Matters in the Foundation Stage Guidance. Parents are actively encouraged to contribute to their child's learning journals.
We encourage you to be involved with this curriculum and ask you to help us with your child’s Learning Journey during your time with us.
Our open door policy encourages interaction between yourselves and you child’s key person on a regular daily basis, making the transition from your care to ours much easier..
When families support their children with their learning they make better progress, so we are very keen to get you involved in school life wherever possible. We hold termly parents evenings and stay and play sessions.
We also ask parents and carers to contribute to our children's learning journeys by sharing home learning via Seesaw and Twitter. We love sharing and discussing significant home events and achievements during circle time and use home learning photographs to support these sessions.
If you have any questions about any aspects of your child's development or the curriculum, please feel free to conatct any member of the nursery team.
As of 4th January, our school is closed to all apart from key worker and vulnerable children. A letter from Mr McCann is on the website for you. We will be sending out further information later in the week concerning next week's learning. Your child's class teacher will upload work for them to complete via Seesaw. The daily work will consist of:
- English / Literacy
- Topic work
This work will follow the curriculum that would be followed in class to ensure that your child is not missing any of their learning. A workbook was sent home with your child before October half term. Work can be completed in this, photographed and uploaded to Seesaw for feedback. The book does not need to be returned to school.
